Overview
Join us for an engaging virtual training that brings renewable energy to life in your classroom!
Developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), REDi Island is an interactive, virtual world where rivers, tides, and waves power communities, protect our environment, and provide clean water. Through FWEE’s hands-on training, secondary teachers will explore REDi Island’s Hydro Hollow, River Ramble, and Hydro Heights – each designed to immerse students in the science and engineering of hydropower.
Participants will experience a blend of virtual simulations, hands-on labs, and ready-to-use classroom materials that help students:
Investigate how water powers our world
Model the conversion of energy through hydropower
Understand the power grid and environmental impacts of energy production
All lessons are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and include editable teacher guides, student worksheets, and presentations—developed by educators and reviewed by industry professionals to enhance existing instruction and ensure standards alignment.
Bring renewable energy learning to life and empower your students to explore the future of clean power!
