Southwest WA Academy
Energize your Summer! Join FWEE Southwest WA Hydropower & STEM Career Academy.
As a member of the 3-day FWEE Southwest WA Hydropower & STEM Career Academy in Centralia, WA, you’ll explore the inside of a power generating dam, learn how fish hatcheries work, try on power equipment, climb a power pole and so much more. We’ll dive into the world of energy and discover emerging technologies and leading-edge science that’s happening in your backyard. The academy includes building a working hydropower model and hydrogen car, touring facilities, and learning directly from engineers, operators, skilled trades workers, conservationists and others.
You’ll also explore career pathways by identifying apprenticeships, internships, community college and four-year college opportunities that fit your interests. And each of your industry professionals will share their stories of pathways that took them to their current position.
The Energy/STEM Career Academy is an event sponsored by the Foundation for Water & Energy Education (FWEE), and hosted by local utilities, businesses and innovators, such as Tacoma Power, Lewis County PUD, Cowlitz County PUD, Centralia College, the National Renewable Energy Lab and the Pacific NW Center of Excellence for Clean Energy.
