Hydropower and STEM Career Academy is back!

The Foundation for Water and Energy Education (FWEE) Hydropower and STEM Career Academy is back for 2022.

The Academy will be held at Chelan PUD’s Rocky Reach Discovery Center in Wenatchee from June 20 -24. Up to 24 secondary students engage in a week of hands-on activities that combine STEM challenges with learning about career opportunities. Students build their own hydropower models, race solar cars, and fly their own drone. New this year is a unit on cyber security, an increasingly important part of assuring power gets to our homes 24/7.

Said Kristin Lodge, Chelan PUD’s Visitor Services Manager, “Closing the Academy for two years due to COVID broke a lot of hearts. It’ll be a great feeling to welcome back students with diverse backgrounds and interests. And with our all-new Discovery Center at Rocky Reach Dam, the experience will be more special than ever.”

Students from outside the immediate area can stay with a host family based on current COVID-19 guidance.
