BPA Releases Educational Video “How Energy Moves from Nature to Your Home”

Heat waves and wildfires are making the summer of 2021 a time of reflection and thanks for keeping the lights on and power flowing. It’s happening at a time when climate change and the desire for carbon-free power generation is driving major transitions in energy markets.

Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) has released a video “How Energy Moves from Nature to Your Home”to help K-8 educators, students and the public better understand how the challenge is being met.

Viewers will learn why the Northwest has the cleanest energy in the nation, and the role our region’s largest clean-energy source – hydropower – plays in supporting other renewables such as wind and solar.

Teachers can download the video’s lesson plan for discussion prompts, worksheets and links to additional resources. A corresponding poster is also available for classrooms in English and Spanish. Click here to access the video and educator materials.
