Diablo Dam is the second dam in the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project. When completed in 1929, it was the tallest arch dam in the world. Diablo Dam is also notable for its art deco design. The Diablo powerhouse was completed in 1936 and produces 169 megawatts.
Skagit Tours offers excursion cruises on Diablo Lake during the summer. The Colonial Creek Campground includes a boat launch, swimming beach and sheltered picnic area. Diablo, with Newhalem, is one of two company towns in the Skagit Project, the only surviving company towns in the United States owned by a city.
