Boundary Dam is located on the Pend Oreille River in northeast Washington State. The project generates about 40 percent of Seattle City Light's power requirements and has a total capacity of 1000 megawatts. The associated 17-story powerhouse was carved out of a limestone mountain.
The dam's 17.5-mile-long reservoir extends to Box Canyon Dam, owned by the Pend Oreille County Public Utility District. There is a boat launch, picnic and camping area behind the dam, with opportunities for fishing and swimming.
Tours of the dam and powerhouse are offered in summer. Boundary's Vista House offers spectacular views of the dam and environs.
